The President of the Italian Referee Association (AIA) condemned Roma manager Jose Mourinho for his comments ahead of their match with Sassuolo. The Portuguese tactician implied that referee Matteo Mercenaro wasn’t fit for the occasion, saying he was ‘worried’ about the appointment of Mercenaro.
Speaking with Italian news agency ANSA, AIA President Carlo Pacifici, spoke out against the Special One for his comments:
“His words are unacceptable. Such statements I consider pretentious, gratuitous and unacceptable. If anyone thinks of doing pre-tactics by putting psychological pressure on the referees then they are absolutely out of their mind. These are words that can create violence.”
