PSG will wait until end of transfer window to try and sign Osimhen

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly planning to delay their pursuit of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen until the end of the transfer window, according to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via OneFootball). This strategic move is aimed at potentially securing a better deal for the Nigerian forward.

The French club believe that by waiting until late August, they may be able to negotiate a lower price for Osimhen, similar to their approach in the Fabian Ruiz transfer. PSG’s president, Al Khelaifi, speculates that Napoli might be more willing to part with Osimhen at a reduced fee to avoid paying his substantial wages, which amount to €60 million gross over four years.

Napoli, on the other hand, is eager to resolve Osimhen’s situation quickly. The club needs the funds from his potential sale, estimated between €100-120 million, not only to finance a move for Romelu Lukaku but also to acquire three or four players requested by new manager Antonio Conte.

The delay is causing anxiety within Napoli, as Conte faces potential challenges in managing the current squad without clarity on Osimhen’s future. Meanwhile, Osimhen has shown small gestures of appreciation towards Napoli, recently posting a blue heart on Instagram in honor of the club’s birthday.
