Ranieri: ‘We need to be more careful’

Start

Claudio Ranieri was disappointed with his Cagliari teams performance in their 2-1 loss to Juventus: ‘We need to be more careful.’ The Sardinians hung on until the second half but went behind to goals from Gleison Bremer and Daniele Rugani before Alberto Dossena pulled back a consolation in the 75th minute. Speaking after the match, Ranieri pointed to the ‘bitterness’ in such a performance, especially given their recent run of form that saw them go undefeated for four matches in a row:

“There is the bitterness of the first 15 minutes of the second half. We played a good first half: we worked all week on the counters and we were good. Unfortunately, we were a little too much of a lambkin at that moment and they were good at taking advantage of it.

“What is missing from the team? We need to be more careful: a header from that far out shouldn’t lead to a goal. There was no one to mark it and that’s not acceptable. We are however a team in confidence, I’m sorry to reproach them for the game they played, but unfortunately that’s how it is.

“We must be careful about these details because they are the ones that make you lose the game: we had to manage the ball better in the first 15 minutes of the second half, but we were too slow in doing things and they took advantage of it.

“Abundance in attack? Without a doubt we should take advantage. Gradually a lot of players are getting fit and we are really happy about that.”
