Juve struck the woodwork three times but it was Roma who earned all three points thanks to a great strike from range by Gianluca Mancini.
Roma:
Rui Patricio: Great reaction stop to deny Rabiot late in the first half and another to stop Di Maria from range. 6.5/10
Mancini: Looked to be struggling with an injury in the first half but stuck it out and ended up scoring an excellent goal from range. 7.0/10
Smalling: Marshalled Vlahovic with relative ease and snuffed out what few chances Juve created in the box. Had a great opportunity to make it 2-0. 6.5/10
Ibanez: Had a few chances to score a goal of his own, very composed at the back 6.0/10
Zalewski: Solid outing for the youngster. 6.0/10
Matic: Had a veterans control of the midfield and kept it going throughout the match, seldom looked troubled. 6.5/10
Cristante: Understated as usual, set up the opening goal and helped dictate Roma’s rhythm. 6.5/10
Spinazzola: Led a great counter in the first half that should have been capitalised on, but he was a constant threat in the opening 45′ and continued whipping in great deliveries from the flank. 6.5/10
Pellegrini: Tough game but a hard-working performance – Had a great half chance from Spinazzola’s cross and was resolute throughout 6.5/10
Wijnaldum: Pretty quiet opening half, but still working his way back to full fitness. 5.5/10
Dybala: One half chance when drifting across the Juve defence before forcing Szczesny into a good save. 6.0/10
Substitutions:
Karsdop: Good work on the ball, some decent runs down the right side. 6.0/10
Bove: 5.5/10
Abraham: 5.5/10
Belotti: N/A
Juventus
Szczesny: Little to do in the opening exchanges, one decent stop but had to do better on Mancini’s goal. 5.5/10
Danilo: A good shift from the captain, the better of the Juve defenders. 6.5/10
Bremer: Quiet night for the centre-back, had some tricky moments against the Roma attack. 5.5/10
Sandro: Decent enough performance before being subbed out for Bonucci. 6.0/10
Cuadrado: Made some great runs and a vital interception to deny Roma what looked a certain second. Hit the upright with an excellent free-kick 6.5/10
Fagioli: Hard working first half before being subbed off in the second. 6.0/10
Locatelli: Dictated things well for Juventus but failed to create anything of note. 5.5/10
Rabiot: Got into a great position to force a save from Rui Patricio with his headed effort. Should have closed down Mancini sooner on the Roma goal. 5.5/10
Kostic: Found himself in good positions and picked out some mixed passes and crosses. Silly booking before being subbed off, Juve needed more from him. 5.5/10
Di Maria: Very quiet in the first 45 bar a few touches here and there. Forced an excellent stop from Rui Patricio late in the second half. 6.0/10
Vlahovic: Limited in his chances but held up the ball well at times. Frustrating when he got into good positions, looked low on confidence. 5.5/10
Substitutions:
Bonucci: 6.0/10
Chiesa: Good tracking back to deny Karsdop and made some well timed runs into the Roma half. 6.0/10
Paredes: N/A
Pogba: N/A
Kean: Absolutely ridiculous reaction from the youngster. 1/10
