Roma’s Search for a Striker: Sorloth Leads, David is the Dream, Omorodion Too Expensive

Start

Roma are actively seeking a new striker as Youssef En-Nesyri edges closer to joining Fenerbahçe under José Mourinho. With En-Nesyri’s departure imminent, Roma’s management, led by Florent Ghisolfi, is exploring alternative options to strengthen their attack.

En-Nesyri, who has not trained with Sevilla recently due to his impending transfer, had initially put Fenerbahçe’s offer on hold, waiting for a potential counteroffer from Roma. However, Roma deemed his financial demands excessive and decided to look elsewhere.

La Gazzetta dello sport detail how one of the top names on Roma’s list is Alexander Sorloth of Villarreal. The Norwegian striker, known for his physical presence, fits the profile that Roma’s coach, Daniele De Rossi, is seeking. Villarreal, however, is holding firm on their valuation, demanding the full release clause of €38 million or a figure close to it.

Another target is Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid. The 20-year-old’s transfer has become more complicated following the sale of Alvaro Morata, and Chelsea’s recent interest has driven his price tag up to €70 million, making it an unrealistic option for Roma.

The dream signing for Roma is Jonathan David, the prolific Canadian striker from Lille. David has been a consistent goal scorer in France and is being closely monitored by Roma. Lille is keen to sell him now to avoid losing him for free next year, but competition from Premier League clubs, particularly West Ham, and Atletico Madrid could complicate matters. David is open to staying in France for another year to optimize his future move financially.

Additionally, Roma is considering Karim Konaté from Salzburg. While Konaté lacks the physical dominance preferred by De Rossi, he remains a potential option.
