Como achieved their first Serie A victory of the season with a thrilling 3-2 win over Atalanta at Gewiss Stadium. Goals from Gabriel Strefezza, Nico Paz, and Alieu Fadera within a rapid 12-minute span propelled Como to victory, despite efforts from Atalanta’s Davide Zappacosta and Ademola Lookman.
Originally set for Monday evening, the match faced multiple delays due to torrential rain in the Bergamo area, ultimately rescheduled to Tuesday night. Both coaches, Cesc Fabregas and Gian Piero Gasperini, maintained their starting line-ups despite the postponement.
Atalanta struck first when Zappacosta scored in the 18th minute with a half-volley from a corner. However, Como responded quickly after halftime; Strefezza equalized just 20 seconds into the second half. Paz then scored what would be credited as an own goal against Sead Kolasinac, giving Como a lead they would extend shortly after through Fadera’s well-placed shot.
Despite Atalanta’s pressure in the final minutes, they could only manage a penalty conversion by Lookman in injury time, leaving Como to celebrate their hard-fought victory.
