Genoa snatched a late 1-1 draw against Roma, denying new coach Daniele De Rossi his first victory at the helm of the Giallorossi.
The match began with promise for Roma when Artem Dovbyk scored his debut goal for the club. The Ukrainian striker’s tally came after a lengthy VAR review, which ultimately ruled in favor of the visitors.
Roma dominated much of the first half, with Manu Koné, making his first start, coming close to doubling the lead. Genoa goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini was kept busy, making several crucial saves to keep his team in the game.
The second half saw Genoa grow into the match, creating several opportunities. Mile Svilar, Roma’s goalkeeper, was forced into action multiple times, notably denying Caleb Ekuban in a one-on-one situation.
As the match entered its final stages, tensions rose. De Rossi was sent off for two bookable offenses, adding to the drama of the closing moments.
Just when it seemed Roma would secure all three points, Genoa struck. In the dying seconds, Koni De Winter rose highest to meet a Vitinha cross, powering a header past Svilar to level the score.
The late equalizer echoed Genoa’s previous home match against Inter Milan, where they also secured a 2-2 draw with a last-minute goal from a defender.
This result leaves Roma still searching for their first win under De Rossi’s management, while Genoa’s resilience at home continues to impress.
