Lazio continued their impressive home form at the Stadio Olimpico, securing their sixth victory in seven home matches this season with a commanding 3-0 win against Bologna. This triumph keeps Lazio firmly in second place in Serie A and marks their fifth consecutive league win and seventh overall, including cup competitions.
The match presented a significant challenge, as Bologna entered the game on a nine-match unbeaten streak. However, the Biancocelesti showcased their current brilliance, especially after Bologna’s Tommaso Pobega received a red card in the first half, which shifted the momentum decisively in Lazio’s favor.
The first half was tightly contested, with both teams struggling to find clear opportunities. Lazio attempted to assert control early on, but Bologna’s defense, organized in a compact 4-2-3-1 formation, made it difficult for them to break through. Despite some promising chances from Lazio, including a long-range effort from Matias Vecino and a back-heel attempt by Taty Castellanos that was easily handled by Bologna’s goalkeeper Nicola Ravaglia, the match remained goalless at halftime.
The turning point came in the 35th minute when Pobega, already on a yellow card, fouled Matteo Guendouzi and received his second booking. This left Bologna with ten men and forced them into a more defensive posture for the remainder of the match.
In the second half, Lazio quickly took advantage of their numerical superiority. After making some substitutions, including bringing on Samuel Gigot for the injured Alessio Romagnoli, Lazio ramped up their offensive efforts. Castellanos came close to scoring with a header that just missed the target.
Lazio finally broke the deadlock in the 68th minute when Gigot scored his first goal for the club with a header from a corner delivered by Mattia Zaccagni. Just minutes later, Zaccagni doubled the lead with an impressive solo effort; after receiving a pass from Luca Pellegrini just beyond midfield, he surged into the box and curled a shot past Ravaglia.
As Bologna struggled to respond, Lazio continued to press forward. In stoppage time, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru capped off the scoring by finding the net after a quick combination play that saw him finish from close range following a foul on Gustav Isaksen in the box.
