Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti has asked club President Aurelio De Laurentiis for three things ahead of the new season. The coach has had a fractious relationship with the club owner, but is expected to continue in Naples for the 2022/23 season.
La Gazzetta dello Sport report that De Laurentiis met Spalletti yesterday morning to lay the foundations for the ‘new’ Napoli. The coach reportedly asked for goalkeeper Davide Ospina to be renewed and confirmed as first choice. The players agents will reportedly meet with the club to discuss this next week.
Along similar lines, Spalletti also wants Dries Mertens’ contract to be renewed, an issue that has been discussed directly between the player and president.
Finally, the coach highly values Kalidou Koulibaly and wants him to remain at the club while also being handed the captaincy.
