As Roma seek defensive reinforcements heading into the second half of the 2023/24 Serie A campaign, the Giallorossi have opened their tabs for Stade Rennais central defender Arthur Theate.
Calciomercato.com reports that the capital club view the 23-year-old Belgian international as an ideal option to reinforce the back-line. It is expected that the Giallorossi would offer a loan with an option or obligation to buy in the event that they ultimately decide to enter negotiations with the Ligue 1 option.
So far this season, Theate has featured in 14 Ligue 1 matches for Stade Rennais. With a past at Bologna within his career, coach Jose Mourinho’s side rates Theate highly given his past experience in the Serie A.
Furthermore, it has been reported by various socurces that Belgian marksman Romelu Lukaku has called Theate as an attempt to persuade him in joining Roma in the winter transfer window.
