Thiago Motta: ‘To maintain this level, the squad must Improve’

Bologna’s coach Thiago Motta touched on his future at the club and explained why he believes the squad needs improvement to maintain it’s levels. The Rossoblu coach addressed the media in a press conference ahead of tomorrow’s match against Torino, and talked about their qualification for European football next season, as well as his future:

“We haven’t discussed with the executives the possibility of reaching Europe, but to stay at this level next season, every squad must improve. We aim to raise the bar even further. However, these are situations that are evaluated later. Right now, our focus is on Torino, a team with good players and a skilled coach. Since Juric arrived, he has brought consistency to his team. Ivan has helped, he wants to win every game, it’s clear that the league is competitive and challenging, but he deserves compliments for the extraordinary work done in these three years.

“Bologna in Europe? We are very pleased to have written the club’s history after twenty-two years, but at the same time, there is the opportunity to try to qualify for the Champions League. It’s not far away, but there is a difficult match ahead, and we will strive with great determination to achieve the goal to the fullest.

“I agree with Zirkzee, the job is not done – his words – The pressure is on others, there are clubs that had the Champions League as their goal compared to us, and ours is not an obsession. Our goal has always been to work to the maximum every day, and being involved in this fight has given us even more enthusiasm and even more desire to achieve something important.

“I am grateful to my boys, I thank them for listening to me and following our ideas. I thank especially those who played less because they always worked hard in training, raising the overall level. The proof of all this is yesterday’s training, which was fantastic and fills me with pride.”
