Juventus kicked off their Serie A campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Como at the Allianz Stadium, with goals from Samuel Mbangula, Timothy Weah, and Andrea Cambiaso sealing the win. After the match, new Juventus manager Thiago Motta shared his thoughts on the team’s performance and individual players.
Motta began by expressing his satisfaction with the overall display: “Good feelings. I expect a lot from Mbangula, as I do from all the others. I’m happy for him and for the team for the excellent performance. Humility is always necessary, and today Dusan gave us a great help, always tracking back.”
The Juventus coach also praised the opponents and his team’s approach to the game: “Como are a good team, and we faced them in the right way: with great respect. When we had the ball, we did very well throughout the match.”
Motta was particularly impressed with Dusan Vlahovic’s performance: “Dusan played a great game with and without the ball.” He also commented on Yildiz’s role: “Yildiz in that position made very good use of the opponent’s characteristics and fed our attack in the best way. With his quality, he can play in different roles.”
Regarding Timothy Weah’s contribution and injury concern, Motta stated: “Weah showed great instinct. We hope he doesn’t have anything serious; he’s been helping us a lot since he arrived.”
The coach concluded by addressing the ongoing transfer market: “Now we need to recover our energy and focus on the next game. I don’t have control over the market, but the management is working very hard to build a competitive team.”
