Following Juventus’ recent draw against Napoli, manager Thiago Motta shared his thoughts on the team’s performance and individual player contributions. Speaking to DAZN, Motta addressed several key points about the match and his tactical decisions.
Regarding Vlahovic’s performance, Motta stated, “Vlahovic is doing well. He had a good first half and helped the team by attacking the depth, even though there wasn’t much of it today.” The manager also praised Weah’s impact as a substitute, noting, “Weah came on well. We reached the final meters, and that’s where we need to improve.”
Motta acknowledged the team’s potential for improvement, especially in attack. “Certainly, when a team sits back, it’s not easy for anyone. We have the quality to do it, but we’re on the right path,” he explained. “We need to change the rhythm and attack the depth. When we face a team with many men in the penalty area, we have more ways to score.”
Reflecting on the big match experience, Motta remained optimistic but realistic: “To win something, we can do better. We’ve faced strong teams that know how to play. Our players put in a good performance, but we can’t be satisfied with the result because we always enter to win. That’s the way forward. We pushed Napoli back, but we need to improve in the final meters.”
The manager also commented on individual performances, particularly praising McKennie and Kalulu. “McKennie had another good game today. He’s a player who can get into the opponent’s area, providing great help in the offensive phase,” Motta said. “He’s doing well and training well like the others. From Kalulu, I expect this. We have strong players who demonstrate their potential on the field.”
