Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel confirmed that Benjamín Pavard has asked for a transfer to Inter and explained why the club need a replacement before selling him. The Frenchman has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Nerazzurri, but the Bavarians are dragging their feet on the transfer. Speaking in a pre-match press conference, Tuchel took the opportunity to address the speculation around Pavard, confirming that the player has formally requested a transfer:
“Pavard asked me for a transfer but the request came very late and this surprised me. Benjamin is very important, last year he played more than 80% of the matches.
“We need a replacement who gives guarantees, we have to think about the interests of the club. His desire to leave is one part and then there is the contractual situation.
“He has to make sense for the club and there has to be a replacement.”
