Udinese head coach Kosta Runjaic expressed his anticipation for the upcoming match against Lazio in a pre-game press conference. The Serbian manager discussed various aspects of his team’s preparation and recent performances.
Runjaic began by addressing the return and subsequent injury of Alexis Sanchez, stating, “We’re all really happy that Alexis Sanchez is back at the club and for the good vibes he’s brought. His injury isn’t good news but we need to close ranks, play well and show that we’re a top team eager to get a good result.”
Reflecting on the team’s recent draw against Bologna, Runjaic acknowledged the importance of the point earned but also emphasized the need for improvement. “Against Bologna we picked up a really important point on the road against a team who are gearing up for the Champions League,” he said. “I agree with those who say that we didn’t play as well as we’re capable of playing – we’ve got to do better when it comes to managing possession.”
The coach highlighted the team’s strong foundation and cohesion, while acknowledging the need for more time to fine-tune their performance. He expressed his eagerness to face the challenges of Serie A, saying, “Serie A is all new to me and I’m now in a position to find out what it’s all about.”
Regarding the upcoming match against Lazio, Runjaic emphasized the need for improvement and assertiveness. “We need to play with greater pace and improve our game management, as well as take things step by step, channelling the team’s energy and spirit,” he stated.
Runjaic also provided updates on several players, including Keinan Davis, who he said is progressing well and could feature in the match. He also mentioned new signings Damian Pizarro and Thomas Kristensen, noting their ongoing integration into the team.
The coach concluded by expressing his desire to make Udinese’s home ground a fortress, saying, “We want to bring greater energy to our performances, especially when we’re playing at home. We need to strike fear into the teams who come to Udine.”
