Dusan Vlahovic: ‘Juventus never give up’

Start

Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic explained his goal celebration against Switzerland last night and believes the Bianconeri will ‘fight until the end’ for the Serie A title. The Serbian international finally got on the scoresheet at the World Cup but a 3-2 loss saw his side eliminated by the Swiss. After scoring his goal, Vlahovic was seen grabbing his crotch, and explained the reasons why to La Gazzetta dello Sport along with his thoughts on the situation at Juventus:

What were your thoughts after Agnelli’s resignation?

“Let’s see now when I return to Italy, I didn’t understand what happened. I was very pleased to have him as president. “.

Did you talk about it in the chat with Juve players? Concerned about finding a difficult situation in Italy?

“No, we haven’t talked about it. Concerns? I am a footballer, I am focused on the pitch”.

Did you call someone from the club in these recent days?

“Yes, we talked about it. They told me what happened and I had read in the newspapers. “.

Such a tough World Cup can be a motivation in the league for Juventus?

“We play game by game, we are 10 points from Napoli who play a great game but Juve never gives up. We will fight to the end. ”

What did it mean to score your first goal in a World Cup?

“It was a great feeling but we didn’t get a result, so now it means nothing.”

Who did you dedicate it to?

“For my family, who supports me every day, for better or for worse.”.

….and the goal celebration?

“Nothing personal, it’s mine. If you think it’s a provocation no, it was just for me. “.

How do you feel after the news stories these days (Rumours of an alleged affair, ed)?

“A bad thing those rumors … but obviously they are not true. I’ve already talked about it, I don’t want to go back to that. ”

What  happened with Xhaka on the pitch?

“I don’t know, I was on the bench. And it is useless to answer. ”

How would you summarize this World Cup?

“We have lost, we go home, the sensations are not good but we look forward. In March we return to the field, we must try to qualify for the European Championship.”

Will Stojkovic remain?

“I haven’t heard anything else …”.

Physically how goes it? Was your substitution after 60 minutes part of a recovery plan?

“I’m fine, the pain has diminished a lot but it is still present. I feel much better, the substitution was a choice of the coach. It wasn’t easy but I’m fine. ”

Is there regret for the team of the many players who arrived in imperfect physical conditions?

“Of course, but we don’t want to find excuses, this is part of the job: if you are on the field it is because you are ready. We will not seek excuses, it went as it went. ”

And personally?

“I expect more and more from myself, I had been out here for a month and a half. It was my first start….”
