President of the FIGC Gabriele Gravina shared some heartfelt words following the news of Joe Barone’s passing. The Fiorentina director sadly passed away earlier today after falling ill at the weekend, leading to postponement of the Viola’s match with Atalanta. Gravina released a statement following the news:

“I lose a friend, and Italian football loses a competent and passionate executive, a sincere and honest man who was appreciated above all for his moral values. His most beautiful legacy is the realization of the splendid ‘Viola Park,’ which he personally followed in every detail, an avant-garde sports center that is a source of pride for Fiorentina and for all our football, where, a few weeks ago, a national team match was played for the first time. I will never forget his genuine emotion when we presented him with an Italy jersey, the country he deeply loved.”
