Transfer Expert Reveals AC Milan Will Make Move For Bayer Leverkusen Star Granit Xhaka In Summer Transfer Window

Start

According to transfer expert, Matteo Moretto, AC Milan are preparing to make a move for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder, Granit Xhaka.

Are AC Milan Interested In Granit Xhaka?

The Swiss international has reportedly caught the attention of Serie A side, AC Milan, as Massimiliano Allegri looks to bolster his side after rejoining the club as the full-time boss.

After just a few weeks of the transfer window Milan have already been linked with a plethora of star names, with the Italian side edging closer to a deal for Real Madrid star, Luka Modric.

At this current moment in time there has been no confirmed deal between the two and the deal hit a slight snag as the Croatian pushed his medical back to prioritize the FIFA Club World Cup.

Now, Milan are diverting their focus to another midfielder player in Granit Xhaka and transfer expert, Matteo Moretto, has revealed that the Italian side are preparing a bid for the Swiss player.

Matteo said: “In the last few days, the first contacts between Milan and Granit Xhaka. The Rossoneri management really appreciates the profile of the experienced Swiss midfielder, and in the coming weeks it will be probable that there will be a negotiation to try to bring him to Italy, to Milan.”

Moretto has worked closely with Fabrizio Romano meaning his statements are often reliable and Milan are likely to make a lot of changes this summer after a disappointing campaign.

The seven-time Champions League winners finished eighth in the league last season, meaning there will be no European competition for the red and black side of Milan.

Will Xhaka Leave Bayer Leverkusen?

In July 2023, the Switzerland international decided to call end time in England and joined Bayer Leverkusen from Arsenal for around $27 million and Xhaka made an instant impact.

In his opening campaign, Xhaka helped Bayer Leverkusen become their first team in Bundesliga history to go undefeated for an entire league campaign and picked up their first league title.

The 2024/25 campaign was less successful as the German side failed to retain their title, but Xhaka was still a regular member under Xabi Alonso – making 49 appearances across all competitions.

Leverkusen have now gone through a major change, as Xabi Alonso left his post as manager to take the reins at Real Madrid and former Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag, has been appointed for the 2025/26 season.

Losing Xabi Alonso has already impacted their chances ahead of next season, as Leverkusen are huge outsiders to win the Bundesliga on the best betting apps.

The Dutchman may be looking to add his own players this summer and has already said goodbye to Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, who both made the switch to Liverpool.

Xhaka’s deal in Germany is set to end in June 2028, meaning Milan would need to submit a bid of around $15-20m to land the Swiss midfielder this summer.
