Inter have identified Nicolo Rovella as an ideal replacement for Hakan Calhanoglu after Galatasaray have shown interest in the Turkish star.
Will Inter Sell Hakan Calhanoglu?
The Turkish international has been one of Inter’s star players in recent years, helping the Italian side reach two Champions League finals and winning the Serie A title in 2024.
His 2024/25 campaign was another strong spell, as the 31-year-old made 47 appearances across all competitions and contributed to 19 goals in the process (11G + 8A).
Calhanoglu’s deal in Milan is set to expire in June 2027 and reports suggest that Inter are willing to cash in on the Turkish midfielder while they still can.
Galatasaray are said to be monitoring the midfielder’s situation in Italy and are prepared to offer around $35 million to sign Calhanoglu this summer.
Not only are the Turkish side willing to offer the club a fair price for the Inter star, the Super Lig side are also offering Calhanoglu an annual salary of around $13m.
The Nerazzurri are not in desperate need to sell their star man, but the Italian side could be persuaded to let him return to Turkey if Galatasaray submit the right offer.
Huge changes have already been made to Inter Milan’s setup, as Simone Inzaghi was relived of his duties following a 5-0 thrashing in the Champions League final and club legend, Christian Vieri, revealed how the decision left him disappointed.
The Italian manager has now moved on to a new chapter of his coaching journey, becoming the head coach of Saudi Pro League side, Al Hilal, for the 2025/26 campaign.
Inzaghi’s departure could be a catalyst for several exits this summer, as his replacement Cristian Chivu looks to implement his own style on the side and bring in players of his own.
Are Inter Interested In Nicolo Rovella?
One player that Inter have identified as a possible replacement for Calhanoglu this summer is young midfielder, Nicolo Rovella, who has continued to build his name in Italian football.
The 23-year-old initially joined Lazio on a two-year loan deal with an option to buy the midfielder for $20m, which the club triggered in late 2024 and this also added a release clause of $55m.
During his time with the Rome-based side, Rovella has made 74 appearances and established himself in the Italian national team and helped push Lazio to a level where the are priced with an outside chance of winning the league title next season, according to Serie A betting sites.
His deal is set to last for five-years and Inter are reportedly weighing up the idea of meeting Lazio’s release clause, as the fee is slightly high for their liking at this moment in time.
