AC Milan Director Highlights Key Factor In Persuading Luka Modric To Join Rossoneri After Deal Is Finally Agreed

Start

Luka Modric has finally completed his move to AC Milan and Igli Tara, Director of the Rossoneri, has revealed the key reason that persuaded the Croatian to join the Italian side.

Why Has Luka Modric Joined AC Milan?

The Real Madrid icon decided to bring his time to an end Spain as his deal runs out at the end of June and immediately found a new club – agreeing a deal with AC Milan.

After signing for Los Blancos in August 2012, the Croatian international went on to make 593 appearances, scoring 43 goals and assisting another 95 (more expected at Club World Cup).

Modric’s trophy catalog in Madrid is extraordinary, winning the Champions League (6x), La Liga (4x), Copa del Ray (2x), Club World Cup (5x), UEFA Supercup (5x) and Supercopa de Espana (5x).

Individually, the former Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed great success, as Modric won the illustrious Ballon d’Or award in 2018 after guiding Croatia to the World Cup final.

The deal with AC Milan looked to be complete in the early stages of June, however, out of respect for Madrid, Modric postponed his medical until after the Club World Cup – with Real Madrid being favorites on the best betting apps.

Igli Tara, Director of AC Milan, revealed that despite the postponed medical, he was beyond pleased to sign the Croatian and picked out a key reason behind Modric’s motivation.

Igli Tara said: “Luka Modric? I spoke to him personally and I saw in him a player with a great desire to compete. His arrival is essential for a group that needs players like him,” he began as quoted by Milan Reports.

“The first question Luka asked me was: ‘Will we be a team capable of winning the league?’ He has won six Champions League titles and wants to be a star from the start.

“This is important because of the mentality, leadership and professionalism he will bring. Being a Milan fan adds to the excitement of this story, and it would be great if he could be a star in just one season.”

How Long Is Modric’s Deal At San Siro?

Modric will be 40-years-old in September, meaning his time at the top level of European soccer is coming to an end and Milan will be hoping the player we have seen at Madrid for a decade will be appearing at the San Siro.

According to reports, the veteran’s deal with Milan will last for one-year and have the option to extend if both parties deem the opening year as successful.

Milan have appointed Massimiliano Allegri for his second spell at the Rossoneri and the Italian is already looking to make changes, as Luka Jovic nears an exit from the San Siro.

The seven-time Champions League winners finished eighth in the Serie A last season and failed to qualify for Europe for the first time since 2019 – leading to Sergio Conceicao’s sacking.
