AC Milan Director Reveals Santiago Gimenez Future As Rumors Grow Over Mexican’s Departure

Start

Igli Tare, Director at AC Milan, has dropped a huge update on the future of Santiago Gimenez after the Mexican was linked with a move away from the San Siro.

Is Santiago Gimenez Leaving AC Milan?

The Mexican striker has been the subject of multiple transfer rumors this summer, despite joining AC Milan despite only signing for the Italian side in January.

Since his arrival from Feyenoord, the 24-year-old has made 19 appearances for the Rossoneri, scoring six goals and contributing with three assists.

Gimenez struggled to hit the ground running in Italy, as Milan finished eighth in the Serie A and were eliminated by the Mexican’s former side in the Champions League Ro16 play-offs.

His place in the starting eleven came to an end between March and April, before scoring twice from the bench to help Milan win 3-1 against Bologna on April 29.

The Mexico international would earn a start in the following match against Roma, but was sent off after just 21 minutes for elbowing Gianluca Mancini.

Milan are now looking into possible striker options this summer following Gimenez’s disappointing form, while Luka Jovic is also set to leave the club and join Cruz Azul.

The Rossoneri have been linked with multiple star names since Massimilano Allegri took the reins for his second spell in Milan, with the veteran eyeing up a possible reunion with Dusan Vlahovic.

Allegri managed the Serbian during his time with Juventus and the Serbian appears to be on his way out of Turin, with multiple clubs sniffing around him.

What Did Igli Tare Say About Santiago Gimenez Future With AC Milan?

Igli Tare, Director at AC Milan, has recently spoken about Santiago Gimenez’s time with AC Milan and revealed that the Italian side are looking for another striker this summer.

Tare said: “We have full confidence in him, Giménez is a very good player, but his impact has been normal considering he came from a very different league, like the Dutch one. We’re looking for another striker with the traits of a true No. 9.

“We need to bring in a classic center-forward, someone who brings presence and goals inside the area. That’s what we’ve been missing since Giroud left.

“We’re evaluating options both in Italy and abroad – it’s a matter of finding the right profile, and for our playing style, that’s fundamental. It has to be a player with completely different traits than Giménez.”

Milan are one of the favorites to sign the previously mentioned Vlahovic on Serie A betting sites, however, the Italian side will face a lot of competition – especially from Premier League outfits.

Victor Osimhen is another name that has been thrown around, but the Nigerian’s wage demands appear to be a stumbling block after turning down an offer from Saudi Arabia.
