Former Juventus star, David Trezeguet, has questioned whether Jonathan David is ready for a move to Turin and claims Randal Kolo Muani has cemented the striker spot.
What Did David Trezeguet Say About Juventus Strikers?
David Trezeguet is regarded as one of the best players to ever play for Juventus, scoring 171 goals in 320 appearances and winning two Serie A titles and two Supercoppa Italiana trophies.
The Frenchman truly won fans over in 2006/07, as Trezeguet was one of the star players to stay in Turin despite being relegated to Serie B and he scored 15 league goals to help earn instant promotion back to the top-flight.
His performances were not just impressive at club level, winning the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 with the French national team – scoring an iconic ‘Golden Goal’ in the Euro 2000 final.
Since retiring in January 2015, Trezeguet has enjoyed a plethora of roles and currently works as a Club Global Ambassador for Juventus, representing the club at academy inaugurations fan tours, and often plays for Juventus Legends.
Recently, the 47-year-old has given his thoughts on a fellow Frenchman, as Trezeguet believes Juve should be doing everything in their power to sign Randal Kolo Muani on a permanent deal.
Trezeguet said: “It’s clear that Kolo Muani has rediscovered his confidence after his time at PSG. Since arriving in Turin, he’s been able to show his quality. He’s an important player, worthy of the French national team.
“He’s finding his rhythm at Juventus and seems very comfortable in Igor Tudor’s system, which suits him well. He’s a key figure for the club, but it’s up to him to keep pushing his limits and improving every day in training.
Kolo Muani joined Juventus on loan in the January transfer window after failing to get regular playing time with PSG and went on to score 10 goals in 22 appearances.
The Italian side are reportedly interested in making a move for the Frenchman, especially after Dusan Vlahovic sparked more exit rumors by liking Jude Bellingham’s post on social media.
Trezeguet gave his thoughts on the Serbian striker and claimed that Vlahovic has not done enough to be the leading talisman in Turin – stating the position ‘belongs’ to Kolo Muani.
Trezeguet said: “Dusan still has to prove he deserves to wear the Juventus shirt. How can he overcome this tough moment? By working hard and trying to win back his spot, which right now belongs to Kolo Muani.”
Have Juventus Signed Jonathan David?
Despite the reported interest in Kolo Muani, Juventus are edging closer to landing the signature of another striker from Ligue 1, agreeing a deal for Jonathan David.
The Canadian international left Lille following the expiration of his deal with Lille, meaning Juve can land the striker on a free deal and divert funds elsewhere.
Juventus are one of the favorites to win the league title on Serie A betting sites, which has only been boosted by the imminent arrival from Jonathan David.
Fabrizio Romano gave his iconic ‘here we go’ for David’s move to Juventus on July 2nd, meaning the 25-year-old will be heading to Italy in the next few days.
During his time with Lille, the prolific striker scored 109 goals in 232 appearances, however, Trezeguet believes this is not an indicator of how he will do in Italy – claiming there is a huge difference between the two leagues.
Trezeguet said: “Jonathan David is a talented young player who has put up good numbers in France. But Juventus is a different level compared to Lille.
“We won’t really be able to evaluate him until he arrives in Italy—if the club decides to go all-in on him. He’s quick, skilled, and scores regularly, but let’s wait and see.”
