Inter Milan are reportedly keeping their eye on Manchester City star, Rico Lewis, as Denzel Dumfries continues to be linked with a move to Barcelona.
Are Inter Milan Interested In Rico Lewis?
The Manchester City star has been tipped as the next big thing in English football after working his way through the academy and debuting at just 17-years-old in August 2022.
Since then, the England international has made 94 appearances for the Cityzens, winning two Premier League titles, FA Cup and Champions League.
His 2024/24 campaign cemented his place under Pep Guardiola, as although City had a relatively poor season by their stands, Lewis still made 44 appearances across all competitions.
With Kyle Walker leaving the club to join now Premier League side, Burnley, the 20-year-old may find himself as the main option at right-back.
However, Lewis’ place in the team took a hit during the recent FIFA Club World. Up after he received a red card in the opening match against Wydad and Matheus Nunes came in to take his place.
Guardiola has been very vocal about Matheus Nunes’ inability to play in midfield and the Portuguese international could be preferred in the full-back position.
City’s team has been heavily improved this summer, leading betting apps to price Guardiola’s side as favourites to win the title and they may not be willing to lose any star players this summer.
Despite this, Lewis has reportedly attracted interest from Inter Milan, as the 20-time Serie A champions are preparing for a possible exit involving Denzel Dumfries who could join Barcelona.
Will Denzel Dumfries Leave Inter?
The Dutchman has been a hot topic of conversation during this summer transfer window and continues to be linked with a move to the La Liga champions.
Dumfries has made 179 appearances for the Nerazzurri during his time in Italy and picked a Serie A title, two Coppa Italians and two Supercoppa Italianas.
His performances during the 2024/25 campaign will have caught Barcelona’s attention, as the Dutch international contributed to five goals across two-legs against the Spanish side during the Champions League semi-finals.
Any talks over a move to Barcelona have cooled down in recent days, with Hansi Flick not viewing Dumfries as a priority – but Barca are keen on the Dutchman’s €25 million release clause.
The 29-year-old is reportedly still on Barcelona’s radar and if a bid is submitted then Inter could divert their focus to possible replacements like Rico Lewis.
