Inter Milan Dealt Major Injury Concern After French Talisman Suffers Knock In Champions League Clash

Inter Milan have been handed a fresh injury concern as Marcus Thuram suffered a knock during the Nerazzurri’s 3-0 win over Slavia Prague.

Cristian Chivu’s side secured their second-consecutive victory in the Champions League on September 30th, as the Nerazzurri swept Slavia Prague aside thanks to Lautaro Martinez brace and Denzel Dumfries strike.

This victory in Czech Republic saw the Serie A side jump to third in the UCL table, securing six-points from the opening two matches and keeping a clean sheet on both occasions.

However, the result was slightly tainted after Marcus Thuram was forced off with injury in the 66th minute, as the French international felt a tweak during the build-up to Martinez’s second goal.

Thuram played a superb flick into the path of Alessandro Bastoni, who then found Martinez and the Argentine secured Inter’s third goal and clinched all-three points.

After that match, Thuram commented on his injury problem and revealed that it appears to be a minor strain, but the Serie A side will take further tests before Inter’s next match.

Thuram said: “I’m fine, I think it’s minor. I don’t think it’s very serious.” 

The Frenchman has been one of the standout players for Inter this season, especially in Europe, as Thuram has contributed to three goals in two appearances (2G +1A).

Inter will be boosted from recent performances and the news around the future plans for the San Siro, as Chivu’s men have started to turn things around after a worrying start to the season, picking up four consecutive victories following two defeats in Serie A.

The Nerazzurri cruised to a 2-0 victory over Ajax, before beating Sassuolo and Cagliari in their latest Serie A encounters, putting them in good stead for the upcoming clash against Cremonese.

What Games Could Marcus Thuram Miss?

An exact injury diagnosis is yet to be confirmed by Inter, but the Serie A side will be hoping for some positive news regarding Thuram’s injury status as October will bring a series of difficult tests.

After the clash against Cremonese on October 4th, players will head to their respective nations as the international break takes place on the second-weekend of the month.

Following this, Inter face Roma in the Italian capital and Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have made a strong start to the season, winning five of the opening six league matches.

Cristian Chivu’s side then travel to Belgium to face Union SG in the Champions League, before facing Napoli anf Fiorentina to close out the month of October.

Such an abundance of matches has made the Inter manager look into possible reinforcements in January and Inter are reportedly interested in Dayot Upamecano.

Marcus Thuram could play a huge part in convincing his fellow French international to move to Italy, but the Inter star may not play such a big part in the Nerazzurri’s upcoming matches if his injury is worse than expected.
