Could Michael Kayode Be Heading Back To Serie A In January?

According to the latest Michael Kayode transfer news, a return to Serie A could be on the cards this January. 

Reports from SpazioNapoli claim the champions are keeping tabs on the full-back. Head coach Antonio Conte is keen to increase his defensive options for the second-half of 2025-26.

Kayode previously represented Fiorentina and was part of the Viola roster who lost to Olympiacos in the 2023-24 UEFA Conference League final.

With Napoli forward Rasmus Hojlund impressing on his return to Italy, Michael Kayode is very much on Gli Azzurri’s radar ahead of the January transfer window.

Kayode only penned a permanent deal with English Premier League club Brentford in May. The Italy Under 21 international has featured in all seven top-flight games and completed 90 minutes on five occasions.

After originally moving to west London on a loan deal in January of this year, Antonio Conte has already seen enough to be convinced by Kayode.

The right-back has delivered a number of favorable performances and is widely tipped to receive his first senior international call-up in the coming months.

Conte has been a long-term admirer of the 21-year-old. After his initial struggles of breaking into the first team at Fiorentina, Kayode has come on leaps and bounds.

Will Michael Kayode Replace Giovanni Di Lorenzo?

As it stands, Michael Kayode would not be a direct replacement for Giovanni Di Lorenzo. The Napoli captain recently turned 32 so Kayode is viewed more as a long-term successor.

The Brentford defender would immediately provide healthy competition and could be utilized more in cup competitions. He would also be adequate at filling in for games whereby Di Lorenzo is injured or suspended.

Kayode is a very athletic and powerful defender who boasts great stamina and pace. Strong in the tackle, Kayode also has a devastating long-throw. Something of which Antonio Conte would love to add to his arsenal.

The 21-year-old star looks set for a long and fruitful pro soccer career and Conte is keen to test the Bees resolve with a January bid.

How Much Would Michael Kayode Cost Napoli?

There are a couple of stumbling blocks that may hinder Napoli’s pursuit of Michael Kayode. He has not long left Italy and may be keen to spend more time in England.

However, the main question mark remains over his price tag. Brentford spent €17.5million on him at the end of last season and would likely want at least double that.

His strong performances in the Premier League will mean the Bees can probably demand north of €40m. Especially as Kayode’s contract runs until the summer of 2030.

From Gli Azzurri’s perspective, they have spent handsomely already in the summer so a bid of this magnitude may be better placed at the end of the campaign.

Nonetheless, nothing can be ruled out but it would be a lot more difficult to manufacture a deal in the middle of the season so Conte may be best to put his interest on ice for the time being.
