Kieran Trippier (Newcastle)

The Newcastle defender is out of contract in June 2026 and the Magpies are reportedly unsure over the idea of offering Trippier an extended deal at St James’ Park.

Since signing for the Toon in January 2022, Trippier has made 132 appearances and helped Newcastle win their first piece of silverware in over sixty-years last season.

The Englishman has started in five of Newcastle’s seven Premier League appearances, while also featuring in the starting lineup in both of the Magpies’ Champions League fixtures.

However, his place in the side has been boosted by the injury issues surrounding Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall, as the young full-backs will take Trippier’s spot once they return.

At 35-years-old, Trippier’s best days are behind him, meaning the Magpies may let him go for free in 2026 and Fiorentina could take advantage.

Trippier has moved outside of England during his career, winning the La Liga title with Atletico Madrid in 2020/21 – meaning moving to Italy would not be out of the question.

Ilan Meslier (Leeds)

Ilan Meslier was once believed to be one of the best goalkeeping prospects in Europe, but the Frenchman has seen a huge drop in form in recent years and is yet to appear for Leeds this season.

At 25-years-old, Meslier still have multiple years ahead of him and the Leeds shot-stopper is reportedly looking for a move away in 2026 as his deal comes to a close.

Fiorentina have conceded eight goals in Serie A this season and La Viola’s number one, David de Gea, will be 35 in November which could push the Italian side into signing a new shot-stopper.

With over 100 Premier League appearances under his belt, Meslier boasts a wealth of experience despite his age and would be a huge coup if Fiorentina can sign the Frenchman on a free.

Julian Brandt (Borussia Dortmund)

Julian Brandt is another player that will be available to enter a pre-contract negotiations as the German’s contract with Borussia Dortmund expires at the end of this season.

Former Borussia Dortmund players have found success in Serie A in recent years, with Christian Pulisic starring for AC Milan – although the USMNT is currently dealing with injury.

Brandt’s future with Dortmund has been thrown into question this season as the 29-year-old has started in just two Bundesliga matches this season despite contributing to three goals (1G + 2A).

Prying Brandt out of Germany will be a difficult task as the midfielder has never played outside of his home nation – but would be a shrewd addition for Fiorentina.

Raul Jimenez (Fulham)

Next on the list of players that Fiorentina should consider is Fulham and Mexico star, Raul Jimenez, who is now in the final year of his contract with the Cottagers.

The 34-year-old has been a crucial player for Marco Silva since signing in July 2023, contributing to 26 goals in 80 appearances (23G + 3A) – but his performances have started to dwindle.

Jimenez’s future with Fulham has also been thrown into question after the Cottagers agreed a new deal with Brazilian striker, Rodrigo Muniz, who is currently ahead in the pecking order.

Fiorentina signed Edin Dzeko on a one-year deal in the summer to act as a mentor to Moise Kean and if the Bosnian leaves next summer, then Jimenez could play a similar role next season.

Francesco Acerbi (Inter Milan)

Finally we have Inter Milan star, Francesco Acerbi, who is all-but certain to leave the Nerazzurri at the end of this season as Inter are reluctant to offer players over 30 a new deal.

The Italian international has been a crucial player for Inter, most notably scoring a late equalizer against Barcelona in last season’s Champions League semi-final.

At 37-years-old Acerbi will be well aware that he is nearing the end of his career, with hopes of featuring in Italy’s World Cup 2026 campaign and the Azzurri star has never played outside of Italy – donning the jesey of both Milan sides alongside a sprinkling of others.

Acerbi’s desire to stay in his home nation could be a key factor for Fiorentina, as La Viola could sign the veteran defender for free in June of next year.
