Sofiane Diop has been on a fine run of form in Nice this season and the Moroccan is reportedly keen on a move to Serie A in 2026 – but which side would be the best fit?

Will Sofiane Diop Leave Nice in 2026?

The 25-year-old was not in many people’s thoughts during the opening stages of the 2025/26 season, however, after a prolific run of matches Diop is now sending alarm bells around Europe.

Diop failed to register a single goal or assist in his opening six Ligue 1 appearances, but the Moroccan has turned things around by contributing to six goals in his last four appearances (5G + 1A).

This output has seen Diop score in four consecutive league matches, with his most recent coming a 2-1 victory over Stade Rennais and pushing Nice up to eighth in the table.

His increased level of performance has coincided with Nice’s impressive run in Ligue 1, as Franck Haise’s side are unbeaten in their last four league encounters.

Although the Moroccan has started to raise his game in Ligue 1, the Europa League has been a major disappointment for both himself and Nice – losing each of their three matches so far.

Diop was brought on during Nice’s 2-1 defeat to Roma on MD1, which was an underwhelming display as Roma are one of the worst performing Italian teams in European competition this season.

However, this was the first time a Serie A side got a glimpse of the 25-year-old attacker and reports suggest that it could not be the last, as several clubs are monitoring Diop’s performances in Ligue 1.

The Moroccan signed for Nice in August 2022 for around €22 million after an underwhelming display at Moncao and Diop’s deal in Ligue 1 is set to expire in June 2027  – meaning he will have one year remaining next summer.

Which Serie A Sides Should Sign Sofiane Diop?

Juventus

The Bianconeri have seen their season be turned on its head in recent days, as Igor Tudor was relieved of his duties as Juventus manager after a run of eight matches without a win.

Tudor’s exit could bring a host of change to the club and some star players could leave Juventus in 2026, meaning fresh faces will be needed in the upcoming transfer windows.

One player that has been tipped to leave is Turkish star, Kenan Yildiz, who has been targeted from clubs around the globe despite his poor form in Italy.

If the 20-year-old decides to leave Turin next year, Juventus will need to bring in a creative spark and Sofiane Diop could be the ideal replacement.

Diop and Yildiz both flourish when coming in from the wing to take up different pockets, being a threat on the flanks and also causing problems in the central area of the pitch.

Any new signings will be dependent on who Juventus bring in to take the reins next, but there are not many players that could fill Kenan Yildiz’s shoes – especially as Diop could cost under €35m.

Como

At 25-years-old, Diop may be looking to take a major step in his career next year, but if the Moroccan chooses to bide his time with one more move then Como could be a smarted decision than Juventus.

Cesc Fabregas made some wholesale changes to his side during the most recent summer transfer window, as Como spent over €100m for the first time in club history.

Como currently sit sixth in Serie A and have lost just one league game this season, with the objective of qualifying for Europe becoming increasingly more likely.

Fabregas’ approach in Italy is slightly unique when compared to other managers, as the Spaniard utilizes a 4-2-3-1 system, while the majority of teams prefer a three at the back formation.

This could be a key factor for Diop as it would avoid the risk of playing as a wing-back and the Moroccan may be targeted if Nico Paz returns to Real Madrid next year.

AC Milan

The Rossoneri are enjoying a strong start to the Serie A season and Massimiliano Allegri has managed to turn things around after returning to the San Siro.

However, Milan may be looking to bring in an extra attacking option next year as the likes of Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao have dealt with injury concerns already.

Any move for Sofiane Diop in 2026 could be dependent on Rafael Leao’s future in Italy, as the Portuguese star has attracted interest from several sides across Europe.

If the 26-year-old decides to leave Milan next year, Allegri may be keen on signing Diop as the Moroccan can play on the wing while also being a threat centrally.
