Como 1907 are growing concerned over Cesc Fabregas as the Spaniard has been tipped to replace Hansi Flick at Barcelona.

Barcelona Keen On Cesc Fabregas Appointment

The Como manager has caught the eye of Europe’s elite sides during his spell in Serie A and Fabregas is now considering a return to Barcelona in 2026.

Fabregas has enjoyed a strong run in his second season as Como boss, sitting fifth in Serie A and avoiding defeat in 11 consecutive league matches (MD3-MD13).

Overall, Fabregas has taken charge of 54 matches during his time as Como manager, winning 21, drawing 16 and losing 17, as the Larians continue to establish themselves in Italy’s top-flight.

Managing in Serie A has not been an easy task this season with the likes of Stefano Pioli, Igor Tudor and Patrick Vieira all being dismissed in the early stages of the campaign.

The managerial layout in Italy could take another shift in 2026, as Roberto De Zerbi considers a return to Italy and now Fabregas is looking to make a similar return to his home nation.

After coming through the ranks at the infamous La Masia academy, Fabregas left Barcelona at 16-years-old to join Arsenal and the Spaniard returned to the Blaugrana in 2011.

The Spaniard went on to make 151 appearances for Barca, winning La Liga, Copa del Rey, two Supercopa de Espanas, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

Boasting such a strong affiliation with Barcelona could play a huge part in Fabregas’ decision, but the Spaniard’s deal with Como does not expire until June 2028.

This could be a stumbling block in negotiations, as the Blaugrana would need to pay to terminate the Como boss’ contract.

Nico Paz To Follow Fabregas In Barcelona Move

Cesc Fabregas making a return to Spain could bring another departure for Como, with Nico Paz being heavily linked with a move back to Real Madrid.

Los Blancos have a tempting buy-back option for the Argentine, as Xabi Alonso’s side can sign Paz for just €9m in the 2026 summer window.

A move back to Madrid has become increasingly more likely this season, as Vinicius Junior stalls over a new deal and Paz continues to perform in Serie A – contributing to 10 goals in 13 league matches (5G + 5A).

Madrid also have a 50% sell-on clause for their former star, which is also a tempting offer for the Spanish side – especially if Barcelona pursue the Argentine.

The Blaugrana would look to sign Nico Paz if Fabregas were to take the reins at Camp Nou, as the Como boss is a huge admirer of the 21-year-old.

Hansi Flick’s position as Barcelona manager is in slight doubt despite winning LaLiga in his debut season in 2024/25 and currently sitting at the top of the table.

Poor performances in the Champions League have brought Flick’s tenure into question and Barca may approach Fabregas before the 2026/27 season.
