Christian Pulisic scored twice as Milan rallied back from behind to clinch a dramatic 3-2 victory in Turin on Monday night, but it wasn’t all good news. Leao was forced off shortly after the half-hour mark with a muscle problem.
Shortly after Adrien Rabiot had halved the deficit, Leao pulled his effort wide from distance. He was then spotted grimacing and holding his groin area.
That forced the visitors to make a change, with Samuele Ricci brought on and Ruben Loftus-Cheek moved up front.
Leao limped over to the bench and had an ice pack wrapped around his thigh after the final whistle.
Now, a brief update on his fitness has emerged. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the forward felt a strain in the upper part of his right adductor, and Milan face a nervous wait to determine the extent of the setback.
The 26-year-old will undergo scans on Tuesday, with an exact timeframe for his absence then expected.
AC Milan Concern Over Rafael Leao
SempreMilan have claimed that, at this early stage, Leao will presumably be ruled out of the rest of 2025.
Speaking after the game, Marco Landucci, who stood in for Massimiliano Allegri, delivered a brief update.
“Leao will have tests tomorrow morning, he’s got a problem with his adductor,” he said. “We hope it’s nothing serious. We won’t know anything until tomorrow.”
Leao has scored six goals in all competitions to date, and his absence threatens to rock Milan at a crucial stage of the season.

The talented forward has long been linked with a move away from Italy, but, perhaps surprisingly, stayed put during the summer.
That was despite various reports touting him to pursue a big-money transfer, even in light of the lucrative new contract he signed back in June 2023.
With his extension set to run down in 2028, any potential switch could cost suitors over $110million (£82.5m).
However, in an interview with L’Officiel earlier this year, Leao insisted he was content at Milan.
“I have always followed Milan, even before joining the team,” he said. “It is one of the most important clubs in the world, and wearing this shirt is a dream. I am 25 years old and I am in the prime of my career.
“I know that many children look to me as an example, and for me, this is better than calling myself a champion.”
Bayern Munich were reportedly in contact over a possible deal, but concrete talks ultimately did not materialise.
