Inter are reportedly tracking Roma teenager Federico Nardin and Empoli prospect Lorenzo Tosto.

Inter eyeing young Italian defensive duo for the future

Reports suggest Inter see both Nardin and Tosto as development signings, with a pathway through Inter’s Under-23 project in Serie C.

Inter’s interest comes as part of a broader defensive refresh ahead of Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi’s contracts expiring at the end of the season.

Inter want Branimir Mlacic of Hajduk Split, but he is not the only young defender on their radar, as per Calciomercato.

Federico Nardin: Roma’s 2007-born centre-back inspired by Sergio Ramos

Nardin is a 2007-born centre back on Roma’s books who’s already on the radar of multiple clubs despite his young age.

Last year, Gazzetta reported that Daniele De Rossi rated Nardin highly, preferring to promote him rather than bring back Kostas Manolas.

That profile described his personality and training performances, with Nardin tipped as a potential “new Calafiori” type project.

Nardin previously told Forza Roma that Sergio Ramos was – and remains – his footballing inspiration.

Inter are interested in the 18-year-old with a view to naming him in their Under-23 side, while Genoa have also been linked.

Nardin is a physical, technically promising defender who could be one to watch for the future.

Lorenzo Tosto: Empoli’s 2006-born defender with senior minutes already in the bank

Tosto, born in 2006, is an Empoli-developed centre-back who has already featured in Coppa Italia matches against top opponents.

Last season, the 19-year-old clocked up 362 minutes from six senior appearances.

Tosto featured against the likes of Juventus, Bologna, Torino and Fiorentina, and has also represented Italy at youth levels.

He is the son of Vittorio Tosto, who played in Serie A and Serie B in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Inter and Benevento are among the clubs to have moved early for Tosto.

With both Nardin and Tosto, Inter appear focused on securing Italian talent early on.

If these leads advance, the expectation is that any deals would be shaped around development minutes, rather than immediate first-team impact.

Inter are also reportedly looking for a new goalkeeper, with Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario apparently in the frame.
