Juventus Move For Federico Chiesa Gains Traction After Liverpool Struggles For Minutes
A return to Juve could be on the cards for the Italy star...
Juventus are weighing up a move for Liverpool forward Federico Chiesa during the January transfer window, according to reports in Italy.
Juventus eyeing Federico Chiesa loan deal amid Liverpool struggles
Although Juventus are prioritising their midfield in the market, there is scope to also strengthen other positions.
Luciano Spalletti has met up with the Juve hierarchy, where they decided that they would look at attacking reinforcements too.
Spalletti is keen to bring in an alternative to Kenan Yildiz in a bid to lessen his workload, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The ‘latest idea’ is a loan move for Chiesa, who has been at Liverpool for around 18 months.
Gazzetta says it’s not yet a case of launching into negotiations, but describes it as more than a passing suggestion.
Chiesa’s versatility is part of the appeal, as he could play wide or as a false nine if needed.
Spalletti has worked with Chiesa previously with Italy, and has spoken highly of him in the past.

The move would also hinge on Liverpool’s position and the player’s own wishes.
Chiesa started Liverpool’s most recent Premier League match, but has played just 392 minutes in all competitions this season.
A return to Serie A could boost his chances of becoming a regular again for Italy in a World Cup year.
Juventus also feel Chiesa’s familiarity with the club means he should be able to hit the ground running.
The report adds that Juventus want to add up to three players this winter, without “doing anything crazy” on spending.
West Ham midfielder Guido Rodriguez is among the names on Juve’s radar.
Genoa’s Brooke Norton-Cuffy is also being monitored as Juventus consider options on the flank.
Why Chiesa is a realistic target for Juve
Chiesa came through Fiorentina’s academy and made his senior breakthrough in Serie A.
He made a name for himself as a direct, high-tempo winger who attacked full-backs relentlessly.
In October 2020 he joined Juventus initially on loan before moving permanently, collecting domestic silverware before his move to Liverpool.
A serious knee injury halted his momentum in 2022, but he returned to feature regularly again.
For Italy, Chiesa has more than 50 caps and was a key figure in the side that won Euro 2020, earning a place in UEFA’s team of the tournament.
In addition, Chiesa’s time at Liverpool has been mixed. He struggled on his first Liverpool start of the season earlier this month.
With that in mind, there’s a good chance Arne Slot could look to move Chiesa on, making him a realistic target for Juve.
At the same time, Alexander Isak’s injury could complicate Chiesa’s exit strategy.
