Federico Chiesa has been left furious as the Italian will be forced to stay in Liverpool after the latest injury update around Alexander Isak.
Alexander Isak Suffers Possible Broken Leg
The Swedish international suffered a nasty leg injury during Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on December 20th and is set to miss the remainder of this season.
Isak was brought on at half-time and just 10-minutes later the Swede opened the scoring in North London, but was on the receiving end of a crunching challenge from Micky van de Ven in the process.
Further tests over Christmas are expected to reveal the severity of Isak’s injury, but Liverpool are fearing the worst after the 26-year-old was stretched off with a potentially broken leg.
This will force the Premier League champions into some January activity as Mohamed Salah is also unavailable due to international duties.
Multiple players have been linked with a move to Liverpool, with Arne Slot adding the likes of Kenan Yildiz and Antoine Semenyo to his shortlist.
Signing the Juventus star could be a difficult task as Yildiz is close to signing a new contract in Turin, while Semenyo could cost over €60million.
Alongside these potential reinforcements, Liverpool are also looking to keep a hold of players that may have been allowed to move on at next-year.
Federico Chiesa To Stay In Liverpool
One player that may have been on his way out of Merseyside in January is Federico Chiesa, as the Italian has failed to make an impact under Arne Slot.
Chiesa joined the Reds in August 2024 but made just one start in the Premier League during Liverpool’s run to the title and was pushed further down the pecking order in the summer.
The 28-year-old is not the only Azzurri star to be linked with a return to Serie A in 2026, as Juventus pursue Sandro Tonali amid a difficult spell in Newcastle.
However, Chiesa’s wishes over a return to Italy may have to wait until the summer transfer window as Liverpool are not willing to lose another attacking option in January.
The Italian’s deal in England does not expire until June 2028, but the Reds are willing to accept a lower fee for Chiesa next summer – after spending just €12m on Chiesa.
