Amir Richardson is set to leave Fiorentina in January with a return to Ligue 1 side Nice edging closer.

Richardson has just 40 minutes of league action to his name this season with La Viola battling relegation in Italy’s elite soccer division.

The Moroccan midfielder is keen to try a new venture as he still has World Cup aspirations. That despite him not making the Atlas Lions AFCON squad.

Amir Richardson Transfer News

In the summer, Amir Richardson’s Fiorentina future came under the spotlight. Three English Premier League sides were all interested in the 6ft 6in star but a move failed to materilize.

After failing to impress Stefano Pioli and current boss Paolo Vanoli, Richardson is desperately seeking an escape from the Artemio Franchi.

And that is where Nice comes into the equation. The Ligue 1 side are in the market for a new midfielder and feel that the 23-year-old fits the club’s profile.

Richardson actually spent seven years in OGC’s youth team before transferring to Le Harve in 2019. It’s likely that the 23-year-old will move to the Allianz Riviera on an initial loan deal but Les Aiglons must move players on first.

Amir Richardson Career Stats

Amir Richardson’s career stats may not be littered with goals and assists but his dominating presence and technical ability ultimately highlights why Nice are keen to bring him back home.

In total, Richardson has made 140 appearances across all competitions in his time with Le Harve, Reims and Fiorentina. He has scored eight career goals and provided seven assists to date.

Internationally, Richardson has featured for Morocco on nine occasions. He helped the Africans land the Bronze medal at the 2024 Olympic Games but hasn’t played for the Atlas Lions since the 1-0 win over Lesotho in 2024.

Interestingly, Richardson is the son of former NBA player Michael Ray Richardson. That in itself highlights where his incredible athleticism and all-round sporting ability comes from.

Who Will Fiorentina Sign In January?

Manor Solomon debuted for Fiorentina in La Viola’s 1-0 win over Cremonese on January 4. So far, the Israeli international is the only player to make the move to Florence this month.

Solomon made an immediate impact by setting up the injury-time winner for star striker Moise Kean. Head coach Paolo Vanoli will be hoping his fellow January additions will follow suit.

As it stands, the likes of Marco Brescianini, Fabio Miretti, Weston McKennie and Daniel Maldini have all been linked with Vanoli’s side. Premier League duo Radu Dragusin and Diego Coppola have also been mentioned.
