Inter are now on the verge of securing the signing of Branimir Mlacic, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Speculation linking Inter and Mlacic has intensified in recent days amid interest in the Hajduk Split star.

Liverpool were eyeing Mlacic in December, but the Nerazzurri pulled away and have been leading the race for a while.

Now, it looks as though it’s only a matter of time before the “here we go” and the home straight.

Inter medical for Branimir Mlacic could come ‘in the upcoming days’

Inter and Hajduk agreed a deal for Branimir Mlacic worth around €5m earlier this week.

Fabrizio Romano has now taken to X to say the player-side talks are now in the “final stages”.

He added that Inter are hopeful that they will be in a position to book a medical in the “upcoming days”.

What Inter fans can expect from Branimir Mlacic

Branimir Mlacic may only be 18 years old, but he has made enough of an impact to suggest he can go far in the game.

The 6ft 4in defender has broken into Hajduk’s first team this season and already has 18 senior outings to his name.

Mlacic has been starting regularly in the Croatian top flight and has featured in the UEFA Conference League.

He also debuted for Croatia’s Under-21s in November and, the way he’s going, it won’t be long before he’s in the senior picture.

Profile-wise, Mlacic is a no-nonsense, physically dominant defender who is strong in duels and aerial battles.

Inter are plotting a revolution in their squad, with Francesco Acerbi, Stefan de Vrij and Matteo Darmian likely to leave at the end of the season.

Liverpool and Marseille were among the clubs also tracking Mlacic, while Real Madrid have also been linked with the Croatian.

With that in mind, Inter appear to have won a hotly-contested race for an exciting player in a position they need to refresh.
