Inter Transfer ‘Revolution’ Planned As Sommer, Dumfries And Calhanoglu Futures Hang In The Balance
Yann Sommer, Stefan de Vrij, Francesco Acerbi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are among the Inter players out of contract in June.
Inter are reportedly plotting a significant transfer shake-up between January and the summer, with several senior players facing uncertain futures at the club.
Inter transfer news: Contracts and exits
La Gazzetta dello Sport says Inter could embark on a “revolution” amid contract expiries, release clauses and underwhelming performances.
The newspaper suggests the list of players “in the balance” is big enough to resemble a full Inter XI in their usual 3-5-2 system.
The contracts of several players who have played a key role in the club’s history will expire in summer, and the report suggests they could all leave.
Yann Sommer, Stefan de Vrij, Francesco Acerbi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are among the players out of contract in June.
Sommer ‘will leave’ in the summer, wrote the report, with Inter already looking for a new first-choice goalkeeper.
Guglielmo Vicario, Noah Atubolu and Elia Caprile are among the names Inter are considering for the role, added the report.
At centre-back, Inter apparently do not expect Acerbi or De Vrij to renew. Indeed, the latter could even be considering a January exit.
De Vrij reportedly wants minutes to bolster his Netherlands hopes, and could weigh options including Saudi Arabia, Benfica or Holland.
Inter are said to be monitoring potential replacements, including Tarik Muharemovic, Luka Mlacic, Joel Ordonez and Tiago Gabriel.
Denzel Dumfries clause and targets
On the right, Gazzetta raises questions over Dumfries, pointing to a reported €25m release clause and a “sense of dissatisfaction” around his situation.
Inter are apparently tracking alternatives to the injured Dumfries, such as Nasser Belghali and Brooke Norton-Cuffy.
The report also says Luis Henrique has not convinced so far, and suggests he could prove to be a short-lived signing if Inter move quickly.
In midfield, Mkhitaryan will apparently also leave when his deal expires.
Meanwhile, Davide Frattesi’s future could hinge on offers over the course of 2026.
In addition, Gazzetta notes that Hakan Calhanoglu’s previous desire to return to Turkey has not necessarily disappeared.
The coming months could well see Inter reshape the spine of their squad spine as they plan for next season.
