Roma want to sign Tottenham forward Mathys Tel on loan this month, according to reports.

Mathys Tel Left Out Of Tottenham’s Champions League Squad

Tel was removed from Spurs’ Champions League squad by Thomas Frank, and is deeply unhappy with the decision. As a result, he could move on over the coming days.

The 20-year-old was already disgruntled with his limited playing time this season, but appeared to have been handed an olive branch after replacing Dominic Solanke on the club’s European roster in December.

However, with Richarlison now absent, Frank opted to recall Solanke at the expense of Tel – his second snub already since August. According to Fabrizio Romano, the striker and his camp are bemused.

Previously, Tel had asked to leave on loan during the current window in a bid to press home his claim for a spot in France’s World Cup squad, but Tottenham did not want to let him go.

This stance could now change, though, and Tel is on Roma’s radar. Indeed, Gian Piero Gasperini remains on the lookout for another forward, despite the arrivals of Donyell Malen and Robinio Vaz.

Malen combined superbly with Paulo Dybala and even scored on his debut against Torino last weekend, and the potential addition of Tel would make the frontline a true force to be reckoned with.

Gasperini appreciates Tel’s pace, ability to break forward from deep and willingness to take on his man.

The ace remains under contract at the Premier League heavyweights until 2031 after signing permanently from Bayern Munich, but his future now appears to lie away from London.

On paper at least, this swoop appears to be a no-brainer for the Giallorossi in their Champions League chase.

Meanwhile, Tottenham full-back Radu Dragusin wants Roma, despite rival interest from AC Milan.

Napoli Also Make Enquiry

Napoli will refresh Antonio Conte’s squad in this window, and that could lead to a couple of new additions.

Noa Lang is now ‘virtually’ a Galatasaray player after the two clubs reached an agreement, according to Tuttomercato. The winger will shortly bid farewell to the Serie A side and jet out to Istanbul for his medical.

Lorenzo Lucca is also on the cusp of leaving, with Nottingham Forest poised to snap him up.

While the Partenopei may pounce for Daniel Maldini and Youssef En-Nesyri, they have also enquired about Tel.
