McKennie’s future remains uncertain, and he is understood to be attracting interest from elite clubs worldwide.

The midfielder scored in three consecutive Champions League fixtures after netting in the 2-0 win over Benfica.

He exchanged passes with Jonathan David on the edge of the penalty area before drilling into the bottom-left corner, doubling the Old Lady’s lead after Khephren Thuram’s equally impressive opener on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old played the full 90 minutes at the Allianz Stadium, delivering outstanding numbers.

Indeed, McKennie completed 27 of his 33 attempted passes, an 82 per cent success rate. He also created two chances for his team-mates and recorded two shots on goal, both of which were on target.

Overall, he took 58 touches, including four inside Benfica’s box, and completed one dribble, a 100 per cent hit rate.

Premier League Clubs Circling For Weston McKennie

Two mystery Premier League clubs want to sign McKennie, but will likely have to wait until the end of the season. Regardless, they are expected to push hard for his signature, aware that he could now remain at Juventus.

The American international has finally found consistency in Italy, having flitted in and out of form during his six-year spell. He first arrived on loan in 2020 and soon put pen to paper on a permanent four-year deal.

However, he eventually tumbled down the pecking order and was loaned out to Leeds United in January 2023, before returning to his parent side after making 20 appearances but failing to score a goal.

His current terms will run down in the summer, and reports from Italy that agent fees were blocking negotiations over an extension were shot down by McKennie’s agent and his father.

Now, McKennie is crucial under Spalletti, making 28 appearances this season and scoring five goals.

As a result, Juventus are set to make a final push to reach an agreement over fresh terms. They will have to do so urgently, though, with the player now able to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs.

He has numerous options in Europe, while Major League Soccer sides have also reignited their interest. Despite being handed 62 caps for the US national team, he has not played a single minute in the nation’s top-flight.
