Lazio Ultras Set For Stadium Boycott As Tensions With Club’s Ownership Reach Boiling Point

Lazio ultras have responded to comments made by the Serie A side ownership over a stadium boycott, as tensions within the Serie A side spiral.

Lazio Ultras Threaten Boycott

After years of agitation between Lazio ultras and club president Claudio Latitio, the Lazilai supporters have decided to hold a stadium boycott for the club’s Serie A clash against Genoa on January 30th.

Tensions between the club and supporters took a turn for the worse after Lazio were handed a transfer ban for the 2025 summer window, due to a trio of financial breaches.

This ban was lifted ahead of the current January window, but Lazio’s approach has caused further issues among supporters as the Serie A side sold Matteo Guendouzi and Taty Castellanos.

Alessio Romagnoli added further fuel to the fire by claiming Lotito was toying with him, as the Italian defender is set to be forced out against Sarri’s wishes.

The Laziali ultras decided that enough was enough and confirmed a boycott for the lague match against Genoa and the Serie A side released a statement condemning their supporters actions.

Lazio’s statement read: “SS Lazio strongly condemns the message spread in recent hours by individuals linked to so-called organized fandom, urging Lazio supporters not to purchase tickets for the Lazio-Genoa match, basing such behavior on considerations and demands related to club and sporting decisions.”

The statement went on further, claiming the act was ‘unacceptable’ and goes beyond any form of ‘legitimate dissent’, which has caused a huge stir among the Lazio ultras.

Following the club’s statement, the Laziali fanbase responded furiously and believes the initial step of missing the first 15 minutes of a match was no longer enough.

Lazio ultras statement read: “The statement released last night by SS Lazio, in addition to being threatening and excessively offensive towards the Biancocelesti fanbase, violates the constitutionally guaranteed right under Article 21 to express one’s dissent through speech, writing, or other forms of communication — a Constitution that every Senator of the Republic should be familiar with.”

“Despite our firm belief that we do not intend to abandon the stadium permanently, we feel it is our duty NOT TO ATTEND the stands for the match Lazio–Genoa and to decide, step by step, how a protest that has become too confined to the mere fifteen minutes of the first half of every match should evolve.”

The boycott is still expected to go ahead and the controversy surrounding the club has left Maurizio Sarri’s future in major doubt.

Maurizio Sarri Open To Lazio Exit

Maurizio Sarri came into the 2025/26 season with a huge disadvantage, as Lazio were unable to sign any reinforcements and were dealt multiple injury concerns.

Lazio have made some intriguing additions during the January window and are considering a move for Luca Ranieri, as Fiorentina look to offload the Italian.

The Laziali currently sit ninth in Serie A, nine-points away from a Europa Conference League spot and Sarri have picked up just one win from their last six league matches.

Sarri has also endured a difficult time away from the pitch, as the veteran manager required heart surgery in the opening stages of 2026 and was back on the sidelines a week later.

His deal with Lazio is set to expire in June 2027, after taking the job on a permanent basis at the beginning of this season – but the Italian could move on before the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

The former Chelsea manager is reportedly concerned with Lotito’s ambitions and shares a different viewpoint than the Lazio board.
