Curtis Jones has emerged as a transfer target for Inter as the Nerazzurri look to Liverpool for Davide Frattesi’s replacement.

Speculation linking Frattesi and Nottingham Forest has intensified in recent days, with the Nottingham side apparently close to a deal.

In order for Inter to part company with Frattesi, they want a replacement in place, and it looks like Liverpool’s Jones is their new target.

Curtis Jones: Inter want Liverpool midfielder on loan

Curtis Jones is now the subject of interest from Inter, who have already begun talks with Liverpool over a potential loan move.

This is according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who says Jones to Inter would free Davide Frattesi up to join Nottingham Forest.

Di Marzio’s update suggests Inter see Jones as a ready-made option to refresh the midfield without committing to a permanent deal immediately.

A loan would lower the risk for Inter, giving them time to judge whether Jones suits Serie A’s tempo and the demands of a title race.

Di Marzio also claimed that Jones has given the green light for a move to the San Siro.

Di Marzio’s report did not mention whether a loan for Jones would include an option or obligation to buy.

However, Fabrizio Romano followed it up with a report building on that of Di Marzio.

Romano has claimed that Inter are in talks with Liverpool over a loan deal with an option to buy.

Interestingly, Liverpool reportedly want Denzel Dumfries, whose Inter future is uncertain.

Curtis Jones: Why Inter want Liverpool midfielder

Curtis Jones would be a good shout for Inter because of his cool head, reliability, versatility, link-up play and off-the-ball improvements. He also has a decent eye for goal.

The 24-year-old has been operating almost as a deep-lying playmaker under Arne Slot, connecting well with the centre-backs and also linking up superbly with the front line.

Jones’ profile fits Inter’s need for control in Serie A matches where opponents sit deep, because the Liverpool ace is comfortable keeping possession under pressure.

The Nerazzurri would be getting a midfielder who can steady tempo, connect defence-to-attack, and contribute more without the ball.
