Cassano: ‘Inzaghi is portrayed as phenomenal, but he lost two titles’

Start

Former Inter and Roma forward Antonio Cassano hit out at Simone Inzaghi, saying he lost two Serie A title to inferior teams. FantAntonio was speaking at a recent event in Catania, and was asked about the Nerazzurri’s title win. Despite Inter winning the Scudetto with over a month of the season left, Cassano took aim at Inzaghi, saying:

“It’s strange how Inzaghi is hailed as a top-notch coach,” Cassano remarked. “In my view, he should be criticized for not winning a Scudetto, but more importantly, for losing two against teams far inferior.”

Cassano also singled out Juve coach Max Allegri, suggesting that certain coaches benefit from favorable press coverage, possibly influenced by personal relationships within the media industry.

“Certain coaches have a great rapport with the press,” Cassano noted. “Allegri has his circle of friends who write favorably about him. Last year, he portrayed Paredes as a mere waiter, favoring Barrenechea, and then criticized Di Maria, who had won a World Cup six months prior. We’re talking about a phenomenal player, one who shines in finals and has already scored 22 goals this season at Benfica. Allegri wants to claim credit and relies on his friends to help him stay in the spotlight.”
