Inter Milan are nearing a deal to sign Argentine defender Tomas Palacios, as the club looks to bolster Simone Inzaghi’s squad. The 21-year-old left-footed defender is seen as an ideal backup for Alessandro Bastoni, especially after Buchanan’s injury and Carlos Augusto’s move to midfield.
Calciomercato report that recent developments in Argentina have accelerated the transfer process. Talleres and Independiente Rivadavia have reportedly reached an agreement regarding Palacios’ rights, paving the way for Inter to finalize the deal.
Currently, Palacios is on loan at Independiente Rivadavia from Talleres, with a purchase option. Independiente has the right to buy 50% of his rights this year for about €2 million, with an option for the remaining 50% in 2025 at the same price. This complex ownership structure required an agreement between the Argentine clubs before any transfer to Inter could proceed.
Palacios was notably absent from Independiente’s recent match against Talleres, with his coach Martin Cicotello confirming the omission was due to ongoing transfer negotiations.
With the Argentine clubs now in agreement, Inter can negotiate directly for Palacios’ transfer. Reports suggest a deal could be reached for around €6 million.
