Inter reach agreement with Lukaku

Inter have reached an agreement on personal terms with striker Romelu Lukaku but they now have to convince Chelsea. The Nerazzurri met with the Belgian striker’s lawyer in Milan yesterday amid reports Lukaku was pushing for a return to Inter this summer. The 29-year-old returned to Stamford Bridge last year but failed to find a regular place in Tomas Tuchel’s starting XI.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Inter and Lukaku do not want to ‘annoy’ Chelsea which is why yesterday’s meeting was kept low-profile.  For his part, the striker has it in his heart to return to Inter this summer and is willing to drop his salary from the €12m he currently earns with the Blues to €7.5m.

His lawyer Sebastien Ledure now has 15 days in which to convince Chelsea that a ‘return to Inter is the best solution for everyone, especially for Tuchel’.
