Reports from the Middle East media suggest that Bahraini investment fund Investcorp are advancing in their talks to buy Inter. Tuttosport first touched on the news earlier this week, linking the Nerazzurri with a potential takeover by a Middle Eastern investment firm, believed to be Investcorp.
Journalist Turki Alghamdi now reports that Investcorp are indeed pushing ahead and want to make a bid to current Inter owners the Zhang family, writing on Twitter:
“We confirmed during this year that Investcorp is intent on submitting an offer to buy Inter.
“Over the past months, work has been done to raise capital, as is the fund’s custom, and now negotiations are taking an advanced direction amid Zhang’s intention to sell.”
Investcorp refused to ‘confirm or deny’ their interest in buying Inter last week, with the latest reports suggesting that Nerazurri president Steven Zhang would be prepared to accept an offer at close to the €1 billion mark to sell the club.
