Claudio Lotito, president of Lazio, has once again made headlines with his candid remarks in a recent interview with Il Messaggero. The outspoken club owner addressed the departure of star striker Ciro Immobile and the future of the team.
Regarding Immobile’s transfer, Lotito stated, “He requested to be sold, just like Milinkovic-Savic and Luis Alberto did. They understood that their cycle had ended, and we must accept that.” The president emphasized that this change doesn’t signify a downsizing of the club’s ambitions, but rather the beginning of a new, younger project with broader scope.
Lotito also confirmed the club’s commitment to Taty Castellanos, saying, “We’ve received significant offers for Taty, but we’re not selling him because we believe in him. We think he can finally break through and demonstrate his full value, without the natural pressure of having someone who made Lazio history ahead of him.”
When asked about the Flaminio stadium project, Lotito revealed progress has been made. “We’ve conducted archaeological surveys, and now we have positive feedback from the Cultural Heritage office for the Academy,” he said. The president outlined plans for extensive facilities, including seven fields, a school, student housing, a church, and various sized football pitches.
Lotito concluded by praising the work of general manager Enrico and sporting director Fabiani, highlighting the revival of both the women’s team and the youth sector.
