Inter director Beppe Marotta has responded to PSG President Nasser Al Khelaifi’s veiled threats regarding Milan Skriniar. The Slovakian international has been the subject of a number of bids from the Ligue 1 champions but the two sides have failed to agree on a valuation.
With less than a week left before the transfer window closes, Al Khelaifi was asked about the prospect of signing Skriniar by L’Equipe, and replied “If we sign someone, we’ll let you know in the media, don’t worry about it.”
Speaking to DAZN before Inter’s 3-1 defeat to Lazio, Marotta offered his own thoughts on the centre-back:
I can say that club owners made it very clear last week they do not want to get flattered by PSG offers.
I can therefore confirm that Skriniar is a very important element of our team and as such will certainly remain with us.
Skriniar is a good lad, we will open a dialogue with him soon and this is a negotiation, because we certainly want to sign a contract that can hold him to Inter for many years.
I trust the man and his professionalism, I think this veiled threat is insufficient to damage the personal values that this player has.
Acerbi? We lack one element to complete the squad. There are several options and we are evaluating them before reaching a conclusion over the next few days. Acerbi was proposed to us, we will evaluate it.”
