McKennie: ‘We’re physically and mentally tired’

Start

Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie admitted that he and his teammates are mentally and physically tired as the season comes to an end. The Bianconeri had to settle for a point in their 1-1 draw with Roma, and speaking post-match, McKennie admitted the season is starting to catch up with the squad:

“Regret for not winning? Yes, it was fun today, but there was also a lot of work to be done. Today we worked for each other, we had several opportunities and didn’t score. We’re not happy, though; we needed a win.”

What’s the difference between the first half of the season and the second?

“Thanks for the question in English (laughs). The players are more tired, mentally too, now. Maybe at the beginning, everyone fought and went for every ball, now it’s harder because it’s the end of the season, and we’re tired. But it’s not like we take playing for Juve for granted, lowering performance. We’re also a bit unlucky in some situations.”

How do you see your future and Juventus’?

“I still have a year left on my contract, renewal discussions are ongoing, and my agents are talking to Juventus. I hope to stay. I think about the team; of course, we want to win the Serie A title again. Being part of and returning to be a protagonist in the Champions League, as it was before at Juventus. As history tells.”
