Miretti: ‘Finally I scored, I’ve been looking for the goal’

Fabio Miretti was overjoyed with his first senior goal for Juventus: “Yes, I’ve been waiting for it for a long time.” The Bianconeri youngster scored the opener for the Bianconeri in a hard fought 1-0 victory over Fiorentina, a game that saw the Old Lady defend their slender lead for almost 90 minutes. Speaking with DAZN post-match, Miretti explained why the goal was so important to him, a Juve youth prospect who has worked his way through the ranks of the club:

The first goal in a Juve shirt has finally arrived.

“Yes, I’ve been waiting for it for a long time, I’m so I’m happy because I’ve been looking for it for a long time and it’s finally arrived. But the most important thing is to have brought the three points home.”

Yesterday Allegri almost predicted it: ‘Once he scores, he gets unblocked and everything changes’.

“I hope, I hope more will come now. As I’ve said other times, I wasn’t looking for this goal, but I’m looking for some continuity, so I hope more will come in the future.”

Marchisio’s first goal came in a Juventus-Fiorentina three-pointer.

“Claudio wrote to me several times to cheer me on in search of the goal, so I thank him because he too was close to me at times. So this coincidence also makes everything better.”

You are -2 from first place. Is it true that you only look at the distance from fifth?

“Calculations are made in May, now we have to try to score as many points as possible to stay in the top four, then from May onwards we will see what we can do.”
