Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram is set to undergo knee surgery on Thursday, September 3, with multiple Italian outlets reporting an expected four-month absence that would keep him sidelined until January 2027.
The procedure comes as Juventus separately completed the season-long loan signing of Newcastle United forward Nick Woltemade.
The two developments land within days of each other, but the club’s own injury report and the transfer coverage describe distinct squad issues rather than a single cause-and-effect move.

Thuram’s Knee Trouble Requires Surgery
Thuram has been managing patellofemoral syndrome since the end of the 2025-26 season, and he visited knee specialist Bertrand Sonnery Cottet in Lyon earlier this week before the recommendation for surgery emerged.
Gazzetta reported that the arthroscopic procedure addresses wear and tear of the cartilage behind the kneecap, a detail attributed to specialist assessment rather than an official club statement.
Thuram did not feature in a Juventus pre-season friendly and mostly trained apart from the group over the summer, a pattern consistent with an issue that had been developing.
In response, Juventus moved on deadline day to sign Pape Matar Sarr on loan from Tottenham, with the deal carrying an obligation to buy for €27.5m should certain conditions be met during the season.
The loan fee itself is reported at around €2.5m.
