Miretti injury may speed up Juventus-Koopmeiners deal

Start

Juventus are stepping up their efforts in the transfer market to strengthen its midfield, with Teun Koopmeiners still the top target. The urgency surrounding this acquisition has increased following the recent injury to Fabio Miretti, who suffered a “comminuted fracture of the third cuneiform bone in his right foot.” This injury will sideline Miretti for at least a month, creating a gap in the trequartista role that Juventus aims to fill with Koopmeiners.

Koopmeiners has had an impressive season, finishing the 2023-24 campaign with 15 goals, showcasing his ability to combine quantity, quality, and scoring prowess. La Gazzetta dello Sport (via IlBianconero) detail how Juventus view him as the ideal complement to their midfield, which has already been bolstered by the arrivals of Douglas Luiz and Khephren Thuram.

Negotiations between Juventus and Atalanta have been ramping up, with sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli and coach Thiago Motta working to establish a concrete deal. Juventus is reportedly preparing to make an initial offer of approximately €45 million, including bonuses. However, Atalanta has set the midfielder’s price between €55 million and €60 million, leaving a significant gap between the two clubs’ valuations.

Koopmeiners, who has been performing well in Bergamo, is awaiting an official move from Juventus. Last summer, Atalanta rejected a €48 million offer from Napoli but promised the player a transfer if a suitable proposal came through in the following market. This prior commitment could play a crucial role in Juventus’ negotiations.
