Napoli could look to Scalvini as Kim replacement

Start

La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Napoli will look to Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini, if they lose Kim Min-Jae this summer. The South Korean centre-back has been the subject of interest from both Manchester United and Manchester City in recent months, with a recent report suggesting Napoli could be prepared to cash-in on the defender in the coming months.

Gazzetta  report that one of the two Manchester clubs is likely to pay the €45m release clause in Kim’s contract from July, however club president Aurelio De Laurentiis may negotiate a €55m fee for the defender in the weeks ahead, earning triple the €18m he paid to sign him from Fenerbahce last summer.

If that were to happen, Napoli are increasingly likely to make a bid for Scalvini, a player that the club greatly appreciate following his impressive performances for La Dea this season.

The versatile youngster is able to play in multiple positions across the defence and can even feature in midfield, making him a highly sought after talent. The 19-year-old is expected to cost any club at least €30m, so the Partenopei are casting a wide net as they look for a potential replacement.

Other options could be Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back Ko Itakura, Stuttgart’s Iroki Ito, or Lens’ Kevin Danso.
